Landscape Lighting FAQs
What is LED lighting and how can it benefit my home?
LED (Light Emitting Diode) lighting is one of the safest forms of outdoor illumination available on the market today. Compared to traditional bulbs, LED lamps produce little heat, are cooler to the touch, and drastically reduce the threat of fire and injury. LED lighting is also an environmentally sound option. They conserve energy, contain no mercury, and reduce emissions and solid waste. They’re cost-effective and up to 80% more efficient than traditional bulbs. Additionally, with LEDs, replacing bulbs becomes a thing of the past. They have a lifespan of approximately 30,000 hours, which will not dwindle no matter how many times you flip the switch.
Is LED lighting expensive to install?
It’s one of the landscape lighting questions we field most frequently. While there is an upfront cost associated with LED lighting, the option’s superior lifespan and the cumulative savings in energy makes the investment more than worth it in the long run. And because replacing bulbs is virtually nonexistent, installation is a one-time expense. Additionally, the cost of LED lighting is coming down as technology is becoming more widespread.
What are the benefits to retrofitting my landscape's current lighting design?
In many cases, customers opt for our retrofitting services as a means to conserve energy and ultimately save money. Retrofitting replaces existing fixtures at one’s home or property with new and improved tech – such as LED or solar lighting. Often, the money saved on utility bills in a relatively short amount of time pays for the equipment.
What are the benefits of outdoor solar lighting?
Primarily used in commercial settings, solar lighting has become an increasingly popular choice for commercial property owners. Because they operate using stored energy they draw from the sun during the day, their use throughout the night does not consume energy, effectively reducing the user’s carbon footprint. They are easy to use and install, aesthetically pleasing, and do not require a main outlet, wiring, or cables. They come in a number of styles and colors, and their continuous use night after night has proven a valuable deterrent against trespassers and thieves.
Do I need to be present for the initial estimate and consultation?
Yes. We recommend that those invested in the decision making process are available for the estimate, to ensure coverage of all options and suggestions. This also provides a great opportunity for homeowners to ask us any and all landscape lighting questions.
